List of available equipment and notes (this list is not exhaustive - if there is something you need not on this list, please enquire):
- Laser cutters (2 off)
- Capable of cutting arcylic, laser-ply, laser-mdf, card and paper (not metals or other plastics, and not standard plywood or mdf). Both acrylic and laser ply are available for sale in the Dyson Centre.
- The laser cutters will take a standard dxf file, which can be generated by many drawing packages, or examples can be downloaded from many websites.
- Water jet cutter
- Intended for cutting metals (in place of a metals cutting laser)
- Please ask for details if you think this may be required.
- 3D printers (5 off)
- Details of the printers are available on this page.
- The printers take a standard stl file, which can be generated by many drawing packages, or examples can be downloaded from many website, for example www.thingiverse.com
- HOWEVER the file needs to be converted into a wtk file first using a package called Doreware which can be downloaded from here from the manufacturers or an alternative download is here.
- Instructions on using this package and the printers are available from here.
- Soldering equipment is available in the Dyson Centre and also the Electrical and Information Engineering Teaching Lab (EIETL).
- Wireless Internet Access will be available on your own laptop or mobile device using a password which you will be given on your arrival.
- Voltage supplies, oscilloscopes, etc are available in the EIETL and also some equipment is available in the Dyson Centre on the electrical benches.
- Sheet metalworking machinery is available in the Dyson Centre.
