About

What We Do
The Dyson Centre for Engineering Design is the undergraduate project space in the Department of Engineering. As a student facing makerspace we support and host a vast range of activities including taught project-based modules, personal interest projects, student society builds, and an extensive collection of outreach activities. Our highly skilled and experienced team provide guidance, training, and insight across technical areas such as machining, sheet metal working, rapid prototyping, design, and risk analysis.

Design and Technical Services
The Dyson Centre for Engineering Design sits within Design and Technical Services, DTS. As an entity DTS provides technical expertise across all activities of the Department of Engineering, covering teaching, research, and manufacturing. The main mechanical and electronics workshops are operated as a small research facility, SRF, and offer bespoke design consultation and manufacturing on a pre-defined costing scale, enabling transparent charging for grant-based spending.
