Access Rules
Who can use the Dyson Centre equipment
Engineering undergraduates and masters students can use the Dyson Centre all year round for coursework, society activities and personal projects.
Other members of the university must pre-arrange to use the Dyson Centre equipment. Access will only be granted if there is spare capacity. This is much more likely if it's out of term time. People who aren't members of the Engineering Department must sign in at reception and be accompanied by a technician during their visit. View the costs here
The Dyson Centre is for people who want to operate the machines themselves. Training will be provided. Email the dyson-helpdesk@eng.cam.ac.uk if this is your preferred option.
Alternatively, email design-technical-services@eng.cam.ac.uk if you would like the practical work done for you. This includes a charge for technician time.
Out of Hours Access
The Dyson Centre is open between 08:30 and 17:00 on weekdays, all year round. For access outside this period, please email Dr Richard Roebuck with an explanation of what you plan to do and why it can't be done in normal working hours. This would extend your access to 08:00-19:00 weekdays and at weekends.
Requests take a few days to approve, so please plan ahead.
